How many tech meetups do you attend a month?
How many minorities show up?

There are countless tech meetups in major Tech hubs and there's also a growing number of tech groups that segregate into smaller niche groups of underrepresented participants.

Our Goals

Let's talk about why and how we can work to collaborate with each other to learn about what makes us different.
What makes us the same and how we can leverage our organizations to help each other.

Questions We'll Attempt to Answer

  1. What organizations and meetups have been helpful for underrepresented groups in technology.
  2. How can these groups leverage each others momentum and work on bettering the climate for underrepresented groups.
  3. What can the tech community do to make the general tech organizations more welcoming to underrepresented groups of people?

Your Meetup Host:
Irma Leticia Kramer

Irma spent 13 years leading teams in the tools organization at IBM before leaving the company to take care of her second child. Now she juggles programming, organizing a Mothers who Progam group for PyLadies Austin called PyMoms, kickstarting a second career, and helping local Python conferences (ScipyConf & PyTexas) with communications, childcare requests and diversity outreach all while her two kids want all her time.
